Owl Crate's January box was titled Courting the Fae. It included five items, plus the book of course, all with strong theming and imagery of an enchanted forest.

Tape Measure - An Enchantment of Ravens
The first item I pulled out of my crate was the tape measure. I loved the cover of it, even with the nice pull at the end. As I think should be standard for trying a new tape measure, I pulled it to the end to see how long it could measure and test how it rolls back up... only to find that it would not roll back up. Maybe this is one that just shouldn't be pulled to the very end, or maybe I just got one of the batch that wasn't up to scratch, but it was pretty disappointing for it not to work right from the start. Every other item I have ever gotten from Owl Crate, though, has been very nice quality so I wouldn't judge them on a whole just on that.
Light Board - A Court of Thorns and Roses
Next up is the light board. I love these things and do not yet own one so I am so excited to have this beautiful quote as well as a blank slate that I can make myself! The marker works well and erases completely, and even the stand has this lovely engraving.
Book - The Buried and the Bound
I had not heard of this book before but found the cover absolutely stunning. Especially the engraving on the hard cover. I am so excited to start this one!

Mug - Fortuna Sworn
I don't often drink coffee or tea so I am not sure how much use I will get out of this at the moment but it has good weight to it, I love that it came with a rubber grip and lid, and the design is of course beautiful.
Bag - The Cruel Prince
I am finding I can never have too many canvas bags and this one has a lovely pocket perfectly book-sized. I love how it has both handles and an adjustable shoulder strap. And I love the whimsical design, both visually, and the creativity of a bookstore run by Jude and Cardan.
Pin - The Cruel Prince
I am in love with this new series of pins. When I was little my mom had a pin of a garden gate that you would open up to see the flowers and bunnies inside and I just thought it was the greatest thing you could wear. Since then pins that open to a different scene have always been a soft spot for me. Add that to being books that open up and I am absolutely sold. This one was also exciting for me because the first time I read The Cruel Prince, I was not the biggest fan (I liked it much more the second time I gave it a try) until I got to this page. It caught me completely off guard and had me absolutely hooked from then on.

I think the highest point of this box is that the items are aesthetic and usable enough from the theme even if you have not read all or any of the books. The Cruel Prince is definitely the first one I would say should be read, since two items are related to it and the pin holds a lot more significance if you understand it. But a lovely and enchanting collection.
