Step #2 in my reading challenge was Rise by Ellen Goodlett. This one marked off "one word title".
Rise did a good job of balancing twists and turns with clarity. This kept the pace up without being too hard to follow. I found it a bit predictable, but I would also recommend this for middle grade readers so that may be to be expected. The ending was satisfying and not too Hallmark-movie. All in all, a decent read.
