The Middle-Grade book I read was Deep Water by Watt Key.

I actually read this as part of a project for an organization at my school. This was one book among several selections that students across the country have chosen as a favorite.
Deep Water follows a twelve-year-old named Julie as she and her father take out some clients with their diving business. When Julie resurfaces, her father and their boat are gone, so Julie is forced to do what she can to save herself and her companions.
Overall, not a bad read, and definitely one I feel would be beneficial as a classroom literature circle read. There was a lot of factual information about diving and the ocean that would spark some curiosity and good discussions. Julie is very resourceful (and *just* a bit too mature for her age for me to easily believe) and keeps the story moving with suspense.
